New to Cancer chat 'scared'

Hello

I am new to this forum. I have been reading the posts and found I feel somehow no longer alone.  I have not been diagnosed with cancer. I will be undergoing tests in due course. In the meantime, I am living in fear and finding the fear debilitating. I hope I can be part of the chat in this context as I don't know where to get further support having been to the GP and tried to explain to some close friends who find it hard to understand the level and all encompassing fear I feel. I am frigthened of any diagnosis and the tests which is compounding my fear,  I hope my first post is okay and in the right place.

Thank you for reading and any support would be gratefully received

Polly

  • Hi polly remember you might not have C you might have something minor compared to that something easy treatable you don't know yet, when i said look so sorry didn't think it would upset you thought you might get some thoughts on your symptoms whatsoever they are. So very sorry.... Billy xxx

P.s if you want you can give me a virtual black eye I was very thoughtless please forgive me,

  • Morning Billy

No need to apologise, you are trying to help. I am continuously thinking the worst and I know it is wrong. Some of the stories people have posted I find quite distressing, I have propbably come across as a little dependent on this chat, which if I am being honest, is probably correct.  I spoke to someone yesterday who wasn't helpful and didn't think twice before telling me about the experience of the endoscopy. This is probably why I was scared last night.  Been wanting to chat since early on but I thought I should try and get through a couple of hours.

It must be annoying when you think about what people are going through and I don't know yet what is wrong with me. As you say, it could be something other than the C word.

You haven't upset me Billy, rather I have upset myself,

    Hope your day goes well

    Polly xx

  • Good moaning there must be something to calm you down so you sleep better, mind you I'm calm but don't sleep much, my minds to active, always thinking things out, (probably going senile) did you try marlyn's idea, best wishes... Billy xxx

  • Yes!!! That's the film....baby jane, she plays the nanny and the little boy hates her because he thinks she killed his little sister ( drowning in the bath) but it was in fact an accident....

sorry you've had another rubbish evening.....don't laugh but I use crystals to help calm me ( I'm not nuts...honest)!  Once you've googled the calm app google crystal healing.....xxxx

  • I know this may be coming from a different angle and am not discounting your fears but I wondered if you had ever sought help for health anxiety .. if you are in England you can refer to IAPT .. just thought you may not know about this .. there may be a treatment you could have which helps with your early experience .  Just an extra avenue of support to consider . • Hi

    Thank you

I am on the waiting list for counselling for my anxiety. My GP also p[rescribed some medication but this dosn't seem to have mush impact.  I have suffered with anxiety since my teenage years, which inlcudes the fear of all things medical, illness and death.  It is something I have battled with and I have tried various options, always willing to have a go!

Thank you for raising it. I hope you are well.

    Polly.

  • Hi Marlyn

Would never laugh. I have tried crystals in the past but I couldnt get it to work for me. I am open minded to any holistic therapies. Going to try the Google Calm App now (if I can download it). Will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks Marlyn

  • Hi Polly

I thought I would pop in and say hello. We all understand the awful anxiety about tests and diagnosis, but it must be even more difficult for you with health anxiety. I’ve been taking anxiety medication for about a year now and have to say it’s been really helpful. I certainly notice the difference if I forget to take it!

I hope you find the chat helpful...as you see you are not alone and some of the lovely people here have already been in touch. Billy is very good at looking out for everyone and checking they’re doing ok.

I pop in and out through the day/evening as I don’t work....I call it being retired but I’m only 57

Happy to have a chat any time and hope our company makes you feel less alone and as if you’ve got some virtual friends round you. xx

  • Hi pol between you and me I think [@Minska]‍ is telling porkies about her age I've never known a lady to say her true age especially when a man can see it, (High minska fancy seeing you here) he he he,, love to all,... Billy

  • Haha! I don’t need to lie about my age Billy. I’m sure I look wonderfully young, although my hair is certainly grey these days! xx
