Lump in armpit

Hi

I have just joined so i apologise if i have not posted in the correct place

I know its not possible to speed up the process or give me a diagnosis, but i am losing my mind!

I found a lump under my armpit, right in the center, its about 1.5mm (doctor measured) its not painful and it does not move, its also hard.  Knowing the warning signs i did go to my doctor straight away.  He seemed more concerned than me, he has said it could be a cyst, he said he couldnt feel my glands (i dont know what that means) but he wants to arrange a scan just in case ( i was panicking so much i dont know what kind of scan) he was asking me about my breasts, which i stupidly don't check, but will do now!  So i assume its an ultrasound of my armpit lump, and not my breasts.  I havent felt ill, i litterally just found this lump.  Ive tried feeling for lumps, but i have lumpy tissue in my breasts, and always have, which is why i never really know how to check... the doctor offered to check them, but i was with my 3 year old, and he also had an appointment just before me for a kidney infection, so i thought if im getting scanned anyway, whats the point in worrying more, if he does find a lump im not going to be put at ease by that.  I just really cant function atm, im 30 with 3 small children, im petrified its cancer!

Has anyone experienced something simular?

  • Hello Kirsty_6221,

Try not to worry, you did the right thing in going to the doctor once you found the lump. As you say its not possible to diagnose you on Cancer Chat so you'll have to wait until the results of the scan. There are various ways to test the lump so I hope that page will help you feel more prepared for the scan. Make sure you ask the specialist all the questions you have on your next visit, so you feel more confident leaving the clinic.

    Best wishes,
