Breast clinic and fibroadenoma ?

Hi all

I ‘ve been at the breast clinic today and I had a breast visit followed by an ultrasound and biopsy.  They told me that my lump looks like a benign fibroadenoma but for confirmation I have to wait  two to three weeks for the biopsy results.  Now after these weeks of waiting for the breast clinic appointment in which I was literally overwhelmed by panic and anxiety I should be relieved..But honestly I feel terrible because I read  stories of those who, after the ultrasound , were reassured with a "don't worry it's just a fibroadenoma" and then from the biopsy they had the result of cancer :(... I can't do it I can't handle the wait and the uncertainty.  I have holidays booked in 2 weeks but I will never leave before I know the results.  Keeping searching on google informations and I am scared especially when I read that fibroadenomas are more likely in women under 30 (I’am 35)

I don’t know how to cope with this situation...

  •  Hi Sara, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I have also found a lump and like you, I cannot handle the anxiety. Today I was even physically sick from the worry of it all. Also, I too have been Googling and gotten myself in a state. I have an appointment Thursday where I’m hoping for a diagnosis of a fibroadenonoma but apparently those lumps move. Mine doesn’t seem to move a great deal. It’s small and hard like a tic tax and feels smooth. It mayhe moves a tiny bit, just side to side. So of course now I’m beside myself with worry since I’m thinking if it’s isnt a fibroadenonoma then what the heck is it. I have no words of wisdom as I’m currently sat here bawling my eyes out. Just want you to know you aren’t alone. I’m trying to focus on my 19 month old daughter but it’s proving difficult!

  • I found a lump a few weeks ago, about the size of a marble, smooth and didnt feel like it moved much, one thing I wish I had not done was looked on the internet. Its easier said than done though and so understandable when you’re beside yourself with worry. I also got the ‘don’t worry I’m fairly certain its a benign Fibroadenoma ‘  from the consultant. He said the fact it was smooth and moved more than likely pointed to that as a diagnosis. I’m 47 and also read that it was only in younger women. I had a core biopsy and thankfully his hunch was correct and it was exactly that, he said i could have it removed but I have decided to leave well alone. I hope that you get the same result, it’s horrible having to wait and your mind obviously goes into overdrive, sending my best wishes to you both for a good result x

  • Thank you [@HealthAnxietyMama]‍ And [@LeighA]‍ For your support!

Just got a letter in the post with the appointment for my biopsy results and it’ll be the 15th of August on my 35th birthday! I was supposed to be in holiday with my family and instead...

I have to postpone my holiday. I’m feeling so down, just want to sleep to the 15th when finally I’ll know my destiny...
