Having a CT colonoscopy, anyone had this done?

I had a colonoscopy on the 12th July and it had to be abandoned due to the pain.  So now I have to have a CT colonoscopy done, and I'm just as nervous.  1 scared of the pain and if its anything like the colonoscopy and 2. Frightened of what they may find as i suffer with health anxiety and scared of cancer! As the doctor sent me via the 2 week wait procedure.  So again all the worry!

  • Hi Jo1976,

How you're feeling is understandable for both the reasons you mentioned. Prior to your appointment, the best thing is to try to keep you mind off it - keep yourself distracted and busy so as not to dwell on it too much.

The two-week referral doesn't necessarily mean anything as such - it's just important for your doctor and of course yourself to have the relevant tests and to find out more.

If you'd like to find out more about CT colonography, please have a look at this page.

If you're concerned and would like to talk anything through with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,
