Good morning everyone,
I thought I'd share my story..
So I had my normal smear test done and I received my results 3 weeks later and it said I tested positive for HPV and had low grade dyskaryosis. First thing I did was panic as I just came back off my holiday and you always feel the worst is going to happen!
They booked me in for a colposcopy 3 weeks later and I just tried not to think about it as my nurse mentioned YOU don't have cancer it's just slight changes.
So I went to my colposcopy and honestly it was the best service and the nurses I dealt with were amazing and a credit to the NHS. I was on my period at the time and they still managed to do it. They took a small biopsy which feels no different from having a smear test just a little pinch and it was all over - was quick and painless.
The nurse said I would hear back in 2/3 weeks time and I received the letter this morning. First thing I did was panic but it said my results came back negative and I would go back for another smear in 3 years! The relief was amazing! So if you get told you have abnormal smear results try not to panic too much a lot of the time it's just small changes and from what I have read it takes years for cancer to develop!
All the ladies that have had to undergo treatment to remove the cells hats off to you because in my head I was thinking I was about to undergo this too.
I hope this has helped a little because I was reading everyones responses on here when I was waiting for results.
