Phone call from consultant about Nan

I’m my nans next of kin she is 83 but good for her age. She went for a CT scan on her tummy 2 weeks ago and had a follow up appointment sent but she has shingles so I called to cancel and rebook it. However the consultant called me back to advise it would be best if she could come if well as her shingles isn’t contagious. That if she couldn’t go could I go instead with a permission letter from her so he could talk to me. Am I wrong to think this screams cancer? He said the appointment might take 2 hours but when I asked why and if she needed something doing he said it was to chat with people. I’m not panicking but just want to go in with a clear head. Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Hello Heavenly40,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your nan's appointment. I think it is really hard to predict what it might all mean so try not to anticipate anything until you get to speak to the consultant.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for the appointment and that you get some clear answers during this 2 hour long appointment. I hope you will also hear from others here who have been in a similar situation and that they will tell you more about how this process went for them.

Keeping everything crossed for you and your nan!

    Best wishes,
