Hi. I am sharing my story so that if anyone has been in my situation can advise me.
In April I developed a sore throat and was given a couple of courses of antibiotics which didn't work. My GP instantly referred me to Ent as a matter of urgency. I got seen there within a few days. The registrar checked down my throat with a camera and reassured me he hasn't seen anything suspicious. He informed me I was on the cancer pathway and they doing an instant tonsilectomy within the next 2 weeks. I had an instant preop and am MRI scan was arranged for a few days later.
Fortunately, the scan results came back with nothing sinister on them but they did find a cyst on my left tonsil.
I canceled the op as I didn't want to go ahead with the procedure as I am terrified of any procedures in my mouth. I told the doctors since they haven't seen anything on examination or the MRI I don't want to have the tonsilectomy.
They insisted that I have the op just as a precaution and to be on the safe side.
Anyway, I had the tonsilectomy on the 15th of July and I am 10 days post op. The specimen was sent to histology. Still waiting for results.
Recovery has been a nightmare with severe pain. Taking none stop various pain killers and antibiotics I still feel awful and suffer so much pain.
Can someone please help me if they have been through the similar situation as me and if so what did the results come as. I am worried sick as the operation still hasn't healed. I'm so worried. Can you please help me?
