Waiting for results of a hysteroscopy

Hi

I’m also waiting for my results and its been 3 weeks... I was told by the nurse it can take up to 3 or 4 weeks and its been so trying at times to keep sane!

I started bleeding on 31st May heavily after not having a period for 13 months ( I’m 56)... I waiting a week to see if it would settle down and struggled at work due to flooding and awful clots, which prompted me to seek help from my Dr... she referred me through the 2 weeks fast track to a Gynaecologist, who I seen on 28th not quite the 2 weeks as expected... I had a ultra sound scan and on the 1st July a hysteroscopy under GA, where they took a large sample from my endometrium and was informed by my discharge summary that I also had a submucoal fibroid anteriorly and a bulky uterus, plus they fitted the Mirena coil to help reduce the bleeding...its just the waiting game now, the bleeding had reduced until now its not heavy but a little flow... its so nice to know I’m not the only one going through this worry and feel exhausted with it... i’m Hoping I will hear something in the week to follow and will update you when I know...

  • Hi Jasper12,

I'm sorry to read about the problems you've been having. It sounds like it's been a difficult couple of months both physically and mentally. I'm sure that this heat hasn't helped you the past few days either. It's good to hear that the treatment has helped.

Hopefully you'll hear some news soon. Don't be afraid to give the hospital a call if you don't hear back this week. At least if there is a delay or backlog in test results being available you'll know rather than waiting for the phone to ring or the postman to deliver a letter.

Do keep in touch and let us know what you have some news.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Jenn... I am still awaiting my results, but did take up your advice and gave the hospital a call... I was reassured that as soon as my results come back an action plan will be put in place within 2 weeks... results can take up to 4 weeks as she told me and to try not to worry as the Consultant was very good at getting back to patients...as soon as I know I will update you all

    Many thanks
