Confused with cin3

Hi everyone I'm new here and I've been looking at a lot of posts on here and I'm hoping someone can help me.

I had a smear come back about 4 weeks ago it's only my 2nd one I'm 32...the letter said borderline changes with HPV....a colposcopy was booked two weeks later at that appointment i explained all my symptoms before a biopsy was taken, the dr then sat me down after and said I was at higher risk end of cin.

The results came back with cin3....I'm confused and really worried as I know cin3 does not cause symptoms. I'm going back in two weeks to have lletz and that tissue will also be tested.....I'm so worried that this will come back worse than cin3 especially after the conversation at the start of my first colposcopy when the dr sat and said I'm sure its nothing.

What are the chances of this biopsy being worse? And has this ever happened to anyone on here?

I have two children that knows something is wrong with mummy but have no clue what to say.

  • Hi Sosodoll,

Welcome to Cancer Chat and I'm sorry to hear that you've some health concerns at the moment.

You've mentioned that you've had some ymptoms but not what those symptoms are so it's difficult to comment on your situation. At the moment you've been told that your results came back with CIN 3. Try to remember that these changes are not cervical cancer and having them does not mean you will develop cervical cancer. In fact, most cell changes will get better by themselves or with treatment.

I can see from your post that you're feeling very upset at the moment and I wondered if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses who will be able to explain things further and answer any questions you have. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply and kind words.

My symptoms have been noticeable for about 3 years, pain during and after sex, unusual discharge, lower abdominal pain, appendix area pain although my appendix was removed two years ago pain all over that area, hip pain, lower back pain again towards the right  increased fatigue. I have swollen glands in groin too...I worry because cin3 does not cause symptoms. Over the years I've felt like no doctors listened to me so in the end I gave up and put it down to my implant and getting older. I'm physically and mentally drained, I cant get comfortable of an evening. I know I cant get all the answers here but no one seems to understand,  none of this is normal for me.

  • I'm sorry to hear alll this [@Sosodoll]‍ . It does sound thoroughly miserable for you.

Give the nurses a call if you can. I'm sure that having a chat with them will help to organise your thoughts and feelings before your next appointment.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
