Telephone consultation

Hi I had a scan on Thursday which resulted in having a core cut biopsy (breast). I was told I’d receive a telephone consultation in a week. I received a letter the next day confirming the time and date of the telephone consultation. Has anyone had a telephone consultation what should I expect? Just a bit nervous as I’m a young mum

    Hi GC13,

    I'm sorry to hear you are going through such a difficult time.  I have a telephone consultation after my annual mammogram. 

    Nothing to be nervous about, they will call and go through your results. Explaining everything you need to know. They will ask you if you have any questions.  If there is anything your not sure about, please don't be afraid to ask.

    Make a list of any questions you might have beforehand, I.e. what happens next, do you need follow up appointments and make sure you get the name of the person you are speaking to and their contact telephone number. I know I have thought of something really important once I've put the phone down. This will help you if your mind goes blank.

    Hi, no they will ask you to come in for an appointment.  Please take someone with you. This way, if your overwhelmed or mishear something your friend /partner/ family can confirm the conversation.
