Hi scaredD. I completely understand how you feel. I have had strange pains in my stomach and back pains for the last couple of months. I’ve also had relatively minor changes in bowel habits but my symptoms have recently got worse and a blood test showed that I have an iron deficiency which I know can be linked to some cancers. I’m having an abdominal scan next Monday and have been booked in for Colonoscopy but I am petrified of the results and convinced that I’m going to be told I have cancer. My family think my symptoms are down to stress as my Mum passed away a month ago from Pancreatic cancer, she was only 66, I’m 46. It has been a terribly stressful and upsetting time and I recognise that stress causes tummy pains etc but I still think that I have cancer., especially as I have low iron. I also have been feeling sick day and night for the last 4 days and have barely eaten for days which again I’m worried is due to having cancer.

Hi Florence34.Thank you for reading my post and I'm so sorry that you are struggling too. It really is the worst thing when you are waiting for answers and I hope that you get good news.

My main worry is that I know that small intestine cancer is notoriously hard to confirm and the prognosis isn't good. Does anyone have any positive experience with this kind of cancer?

I am going through the exact same thing, my doctor referred me through the two week wait procedure because I'm anemic, and I'm absolutely papping myself incase its something sinister! I'm having an endoscopy and colonoscopy on same day this Friday and I'm terrified.

I'm just so scared of what they might find.... i too have had a bad start this year, will health worries, and two deaths in the close family.... I keep thinking really negative and think everything is gloomy! I also suffer with health anxiety.

I'm really sorry that you are suffering too and hope that you get good results I've had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and they weren't anything to worry about.At least you will get a definite answer.I'm now having tests on the small intestine which is really hard to diagnose..I currently have no appetite and feel sick which makes me think its something terrible but I know that my family put it down to anxiety..I also worry that I've had pain for so long it could be a major problem by now.

Good luck for Friday..I've got a CT enterography on Tuesday..fingers crossed for us both.!

Jo1976, thanks for responding to my message. Do you think your anaemia is due to poor diet? I’m trying to convince myself that my anaemia is due to not really eating much in the last 6 months due to my mum being ill. I have an abdominal scan Monday and am awaiting a date for my colonoscopy but so scared about what they will find. I really hope everything goes well for you Friday.  

I think its down to my diet as dont eat fruit or veg.... and ive always been anemic! 

And probably the fact I'm still having periods too, hate them doing all these tests, its making me worry constantly, which i do anyways cos have health anxiety! 

I suppose their just doing there job, cant wait till this is all over though x
