Awaiting results

Good evening, I have fallen upon this group whilst googling answers to my questions that are constantly spinning in my head at the mo! I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for the results from my breast biopsy and I think I’m going crazy. I have been told that suspicious calcifications have been found in my left breast after mammogram/ultrasound and biopsy. I have been told that the mass is almost 9cm in size. I’m due to get the results this Tuesday..one minute I feel I can handle this and the next I’m convinced I’m going to be dealt a death sentence and I have no idea how I’m going to tell my 2 children aged 13 and 19. I’m not sure what I’m expecting to get from posting this here..I guess it’s good to open up to people who may understand how I’m feeling right now. Thankyou for taking the time to read this and it has been lovely to read some positive stories at this very scary time

  • Hi there - so sorry you're so undersandably worried. You ask what you'll get from people here & it's this: You'll get lots of support & understanding & the chance, whenever you feel like it, to say whatever it is you feel like saying so you must do that. I've not been in your position - only had a cancer 'scare' but I do know what the fear is like & it's horrible. Someone who has been in your situation will come along to give you some support & perhaps a bit of advice.

Do try to keep off google - it just drives you mad with all the awful possibilities & those of us who aren't doctors don't understand it & anyway a lot of what is on there is outdated rubbish. You've come to the right place for help & support. Hang on in there sweetie & talk here as much as you need to. Love to you - you aren't alone I promise! x

  • Hi Purrfect, thankyou for responding and reassuring me that I am not alone. You are right..google is not helping in this situation and I will stay away from it now. I just have to get through today and tomorrow I get my results. I just pray I don’t have to tell my children the worst news xx

  • Morning sweetie - glad google is a thing of the past! You'll get thro' today & tomorrow you'll get your results & whatever comes you're stronger than you think - better to know than this horrible waiting. You can count on help & support here AND, more importantly it may well be something quickly sorted out. :) Let us know won't you. Will think of you. x

  • Hi,

Most of us would agree that waiting for results is the worst part - except for having your worst fears realised.

Your children will probably have twigged that there’s something wrong and might even be wondering if they’re in trouble for something. If you tell them now they’ll better understand what you are going through, will be better prepared for any bad news and will be able to help celebrate the relief of good news!

    Good luck with your results!

    Dave
