Worried I have ovarian cancer

I am worried I may have ovarian cancer . I have been suffering from bloating of my tummy for a while now but to be honest I have had bloating before especially before a period and at other times so I didn’t initially think much of it .

ive been aware my clothes are getting tight and when I look from the side I just look like a full tummy . So I’ve been wearing loose tops .

I also have been wanting to pass urine more frequently and even waking in the night which is never done before .

Sometimes I feel fluttery in my tummy almost reminding me of when I was pregnant years ago .

also feeling permenantly tired and sometimes needing a sleep after work recently .

Then last week I started with my first experience of a  urine infection ; stinging urine , frequency and not feeling like I am emptying my bladder properly .

So I went to the GP who prescribed me antibiotics after testing my urine which showed up blood in it and an infection .

He also examined by abdomen and agreed there was bloating and so now has referred me for an urgent abdominal ultrasound to check ovaries uterus and bladder .

This has left me worrying now as I wish I’d gone sooner about my bloating and urine  frequency symptoms and what if this is ovarian cancer .

  • Hi there - sorry you're feeling unwell & worried but I really think you're getting ahead of yourself which is very easy to do I know. No-one on this site can offer you any insight as to your symptoms but it seems to me that your GP is doing just the right thing by trying to find out what the problem is. There's every chance in the world that this is a straightforward problem that can be sorted out in no time.

You don't say how old you are but start of menopause crossed my mind?? Try not to worry - focus on keeping busy & the time will pass more quickly until you get your results. Good luck & let us know how you get on. x

  • Ah Thankyou , you are very kind and you are probably right . I am 48 in two days .

I must stay positive - this isn’t like me at all !

    Thanks again

  • You're more than welcome & staying positive is the BEST!! Happy birthday in 2 days :):):) x

  • Hi Maisie, I'm sorry to hear you're going through all this. I've messaged you because I'm having exactly the same symptoms. I suffer with agoraphobia/anxiety and the doctors are blaming it all oin that! Have called the paramedics out twice, I've been in such a state. Mine has been going on for months and kept telling them i was peeing too much. I've now developed bowel issues, leg, back, rectum and pelvic pain, and the fatigue is crippling. Paying for a private doctor to come out Tuesday. He agreed to a pelvic exam and CA 125 test,  but I'm panicking coz every day I'm getting worse. I hope your problem is nothing sinister. I've added you as a friend, I hope you don't mind. Don't know about you, but feeling very frightened and alone with it xx
