Bowel Cancer - confused

Hi

I had the full colonoscopy a while ago and they said I have inflammation of the colon so they took 18 biopsy. They think possibly Crohns BUT said that usually with Crohns granits show up on the biopsies and in my case no granits so my doctor  recommended an MRI scan to see if any inflammation of the small bowel. Anyway I had a follow up appointment booked and they have cancelled that appointment and brought it forward and I am now worried they brought it forward because something serious has shown up.

But  my question is if anything serious would it if already shown up on the colonoscopy? Or can cancer be detected on MRI without being detected on the colonoscopy either small bowel cancer or colon cancer.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these health problems.

There could be any number of reasons that your appointment date has been moved and any reason that we could suggest would just be a guess. We know that it can be a very difficult time waiting for results and it's only natural for your mind to ask all sorts of questions. Try not to read too much into things at the moment.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our team of nruses then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    best wishes,
