Has anyone got any idea of what's going on?!

Hi all, around a year ago I awoke with an urgency to urinate and despite urinating I felt like I instantly could have wet myself out of urgency to urinate again. There was blood in my urine. I instantly thought it must just have been a water infection, despite never having had 1 before, and booked a same day GP appointment. They tested and I had no infection. This went on for a few months and then I developed a pain in my right side. The pain was sharp and lasts about 30sec to a min. This went on for weeks. Then I began to have dull lower back pain. Throughout this my GP was testing my urine and never an infection. Every sample the GP took of my urine has had blood and on 2 occasions it has had protein. They sent me for 2 ultrasound scans - all looks normal. They have done a camera check into my bladder and only a small sac (?) which apparently is no call for concern and very common. They have given me a smear and all was well. I have had mid cycle/not period related random bleeding. Then recently the pain I experienced on the right side has happened on the left side. I'm awaiting a CT scan but my GP has been ignored by the specialist for 2 months and as it's dragging out I'm understandably concerned but also getting desperate to find something that will ease the sensation of needing to pee so much. It comes and goes but when it comes it's a few days of feeling like I could wet myself only for there to be no urine to pass on the majority of occasions. Has anyone had similar thing happen and did you find out what it was? thanks in advance for any help

  • Hi marymary123,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you've been going through a tough time recently and I'm sure this has been incredibly frustrating and worrying.

I'm glad to hear you've been getting various tests done, although I'm sure the not knowing is difficult. While I can't offer any particular advice for your situation, just ensure you keep pressing for information and all the necessary tests. It can also be a good idea to keep a diary or log of symptoms so that you can chart any progression or differences, and so you can show your doctor or the specialists.

I hope the scan you have booked in provides more information.

Do let us know how you get on, if you would like to of course. In the meantime I hope you find this forum useful and hopefully any others will be along soon if they have similar experiences to share.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
