Please can i jump on this thread as I am in your position. My mom had a scan and biopsy  on Friday and was told thick lining and she is now waiting on results. She thinks it maybe cancer but I would love to hear some positive stories also x 

I had an ultrascan which showed up thickening of the lining and a small fibroid. They did a hysteroscopy to remove the fibroid and do a biopsy. The biopsy showed cell changes so they ordered an MRI scan of the pelvis and liver area. That was a week ago. Still waiting contact from the hospital. Had been treated just before for diverticulitis with antibiotics. Always seem to have agro lower area of bowel.

Im really worried and you do feel very alone ... it really helps to have family you can talk to. Glad your mum has you.

Sounds like your in the exact same boat as my mom...she had a scan then an internal on Friday  and they said thick lining and did a biosposy there and then. According to my mom the Dr said they are going to get an Mri done...so we are waiting on that also! It's such a worrying time and I'm the biggest worrier going my mom's a very strong person  thank god and is expecting the worst but seems quite chilled about it I on the other hand havnt stop crying and worrying!!!! I'm really hoping it's pre cancerous and from what I've red most the time it is this... a little about my mom she's 62 post menopausal and had a little spotting for 3 weeks on and off but has now completely stopped bleeding!

Worrying times.

Also in a similar situation. Thickened endometrius 9mm, numerous polyps/fibroids, largest 3mm. Also seen on CT scan, large 5cm lesion in my liver, segment 6. Recommendations for hysteroscopy and MRI or further CT and ultrasound. No firm appointment dates instead phone appointment for 2 wks time with gynae team. GP appointment on Monday to request appropriate and timely referrals. Am terrified, totally and utterly terrified. 

Would welcome a response from anyone with similar experience or expertise.

I had an MRi after an ultrasound showed possible problems,  and they then decided the lining looked OK, just a lot of fibroids.  They may recommend a hysterectomy, which is what I am having as reached 50 , and also have to have ovaran cysts removed so a bit more will come out.   They are going to biopsy all afterwards rahter than to the hysteroscopy, so I will find out then.

You don't always get to hear what is happening with resutls, which can be frustrating,  but they tend to do lots of tests and then put all the results together, they are just very thorough nowadays.  There are teams of specialists working together to come to best recommendation rather than some consultant in isolation.  I have had quite a few panics over the  last couple of months, you can't help it really but they said the  uterine type, if anything is found, is often 'self contained' and treatable.  Once comfort is that they seem t take any post menopausal symptoms like bleeding very seriously and check it out even though as they say, it is not usually cancer, its just that they don't want to miss any cases that are and they don't know until they have finished the tests.   Unfortunately as age goes by we all seem to accumulate a variety of fibroids, polyps, cysts and endometrial 'stripes' of varying widths that take a while to analyse :-(

Agreed, you start to think of simple cysts (3cm), polyps (3cm but came off on its own and the mutliple fibroids (3 cm :-0) as relatively OK after a while,  and concentrate on the more complex cysts and larger than 5cm findings!   How your expectations change.

I wonder if you can have an ultrasound, especially  after a certain age and come away without them finding something?

I was quite happy to have the MRI as it seemed to give them the info they needed that was unclear on the ultrasound,  and no Xrays like the CT, plus the contrast injection is supposedly easier on you.
