Dr says I have a 5cm lump. Trying not to panic

Hi

yesterday I saw my GP after discovering a painful lump in my left breast after our dog jumped on me.

Dr is sending me to a breast clinic ‘just to be sure’ he said they will do a scan and mammogram if concerned. He also said it is un common that painful lumps are cancerous, more likely internal bruises from being jumped on by the dog, however the lump is around 5cm and best to get checked out.

Then says he will requested an urgent appt.

so on one hand nothing to worry about, on other urgent appt requested. Hmmm confused.

Told me to keep taking painkillers if pain persists until checked out by breast clinic.

Trying to keep busy and not panic

  • Hello Trishaw,

You've done the right thing to go and see your GP and get it checked out and it sounds like you have a very thorough doctor which is a good thing and it is important to get it all properly investigated. Your dog sounds very active and energetic I bet he or she is a lot of fun to be around!

I hope you get this properly examined by the breast clinic very soon - don't worry about the fact that an urgent appointment was requested. The important thing is that you won't have to wait too long now to have some answers. I can imagine though that it is a really stressful time for you. You are doing absolutely the right thing in trying to keep busy and not to panic. It won't be long now until you find out more.

We are keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out alright and I hope that your four-legged friend is to be blamed for it all!

Keep us updated if you get a chance.

    Best wishes,
