ENT visit : swollen lymph nodes

Hello, I have not been diagnosed yet and this is no disrespect to the brave people battling this horrendous disease.

I just want to ask everyone’s opinion on this. I saw an ENT today about swollen lymph nodes in my neck and a new one that’s just popped up on my jaw line . He felt my neck and said there’s nothing to worry about. He put a camera down my nose and said everything looked ok except it looked like I have GERD/LPR and prescribed medicine for it.

A month ago I had a CT scan of the neck and was given an all clear, it even said ‘no lymphadenopathy ‘ though I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck.

I had a chest X-ray that was clear as well but I’ve been having ridiculous symptoms and it’s driving me crazy that all the ent said is it’s gerd and he’s not concerned about the lymph nodes.

I have a feeling of gagging every once in a while, a pressure like pain at the side of my neck, I had a pain with swallowing for a couple of days, a hard round lump under my jaw, about three nodes on the side of my neck. Can the ENT, CT scan and chest X-RAY be wrong? I’m just so confused.

I live in Chicago and have private insurance, what do you suggest I do? I’m sorry for this long post and I hope I’m not bothering anyone with my rambling . I guess I’m just scared it’s something crazy and they’re missing something.

  • Hello Nvvxxl,

Welcome to our forum and don't worry you are not bothering anyone posting here. It sounds like you have had a very stressful time of it all. I think you can be reassured by what the ENT said and by the fact that your CT scan and chest X-Rays came back clear.

If you are still worried though, perhaps you could consider asking for a second opinion? You can find out more about this on this page

I hope you get the reassurance you need and get to talk to someone about it soon.

    Best wishes,
