I'm not really sure what I hope to gain from posting, maybe just some understanding and advice from those who have been through the same.

I have always had problems with my ovaries/pelvic area since giving birth to my son 13 years ago and catching numerous infections during birth. Since then we have never been able to conceive again, periods and ovulation are extremely painful and sex hurts..... a lot! During a laparoscopy years ago it showed a lot of post infection scar tissue.

Things have now turned up a notch. I settled into a 26 day cycle but in February I missed a period completely and given my history the Dr referred me to a gynaecologist - got an appointment for September (6 months later) 

Yesterday I had a period, 2 weeks after my last one, so went to the Dr who told me given my history things clearly aren't normal. She is sending me for an ultrasound and wants to do an internal examination when/if I stop bleeding.

For the last week or so I have had horrendous heartburn/indigestion and nothing I take helps, I completely forgot to mention this to the Dr as I was getting emotional telling her how fed up I am of not being 'normal'.

Has anyone with the same symptoms as me been through the same thing? What should I expect? Are these symptoms typical of something? What exactly will the ultrasound be looking for?
