U4 Thyroid

This year I had a DNA which came back U4-abnormal cells in the nodule. Within 6 weeks of the results my consultant had me in for surgery to which I have had half my thyroid removed.

Has anyone else has theirs removed if so how long do you expect to wait for results of the thyroid removed to come back to find out if benign or cancerous?

Thank you x

  • Hello JRobinson and welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this done will pop by soon to let you know how long it took for their results to come back but if you haven't done so already you could try getting in touch with your doctor or your consultant's secretary to find out.

Fingers crossed it won't be too long and you get good results.

    All the best,

  • Hi only just picked up on this site I had partial thyroid removal in February 20 and my biopsy was back within the month, unfortunately the results were not good so I had further surgery in mid May to remove the remainder of my thyroid and am waiting for the biopsy results on that. Up to now I am doing ok I am on thyroxine and gradually getting balanced out, I was fortunate that my cancer was found early as I was having regular US scans due to surgery I had on a vascular blockage in my neck which caused me to have TIA,S my thyroid problem has also flagged up other problems with C cell hyperplasia so I am waiting on genetic tests on this although I don't seem to be able to trace any family thyroid history I am told that the results can take up to 6 months should this be positive I will need my children and grandchildren to be tested. I notice that your surgery was sometime ago now and I hope you had a good result and you are keeping well if by this stage you have had no further surgery your nodule is benign and you can go on to live quite happily which I hope is the case if not and like me you have to have further treatment let me tell you it's not that bad and with the medication things can go on as normal I hope this helps and I wish you well for the future best regards John

  • Hi. I'm in the same place as you, I've had my right side removed 2 wwwks ago and got an appointment in 3 days to find out the results.
