Raised CA125 tests - unusual symptoms - ultrasound booked

Hi there. I'm new to the site. I'm really anxious and nervous, and I just don't know how to cope currently. I feel like I'm in limbo. Late last year I started getting flair ups, which included indigestion and feeling sick, constipation and bad pain in my middle tummy which went over the my right hand side. It would then go back to normal, and I'd be fine. I had about 4 of these flair ups from late last year up until today. The last flair up was really intense and lasted 4 days, the same thing happened constipation, sickness, middle tummy pain and then left side pain around hip area. Last couple of days of the flair up, my stool was yellow diarreah. I went to drs and had numerous tests, and the drs suspected I had gallstones. When I was initally tested for inflammation my placelets were a little high, but my last blood tests my placelets were normal and upper abdmoninal scan came back fine. I went back to the dr, because since my last flair up, for a month I kept getting this niggling pressure pain on the right hand side of my belly button, and also pain on my upper right hand side . I also had the tinyest little bit of blood in my stool on about 4 occasions since last year. The dr decided to take another full blood count, stool sample (which came back fine) and she decided to check on my overy, just incase. Last week I had a call from my dr, and she sounded pretty serious and explained that my CA125 test came back abnormal. I was really shocked, because I just didn't even think it could be to do with my ovary, I thought it was more to do with my bowel/ gastro. Since last friday I've been unable to hardly eat, I'm losing weight mainly because I've been eating so much healthier since I was suspected gallstones, but I'm really hardly eating anything the last couple of days since my results currently cause of the stress. Last couple of days I've been having yellow diarreah again, similar to what I get at the end of the flair ups and I feel like I'm getting indigestion more often the last month, and weeing a bit more. I'm also getting pains on the bottom right, but really bad sharp pains at times on my upper right abdomen. Today I woke up and had diarreah, and I felt so nausious, and more pains especially top right abddomen, but I'm also feeling like a pressure on the right hand side of belly button that I've had since my last flair up a month ago. I don't know if it's stress that's making it all worse etc, but I'd really appreciate some advice. My Dr has sent an urgent referall for an abdominal scan the week after next, and I'm a mess. I'm so scared of what they'll find. I'm 36, and I just didn't think that ovarian cancer could strike, especially with these types of symptoms. I feel weak currently, probably because I'm not eating but I feel like every symptom I'm getting makes me feel worse, like they're going to find something bad. I am ovrweight, and I wadn't eating healthy before all this started last year, so I'm worried I haven't helped matters, but the last 1-2 months I've been eating really healthy, so I can explain the weight loss, but I just can't understand what's going on within my body. I'd be grateful if I could get a response, and anyone who's possibly been in the same kind of situation.

  • Thank you I appreciate your kind words

i hope everything goes well for you too

fingers crossed for us all x

  • Hi Ladies. I hope you're all doing okay. Today was terrible, I already wake up every morning feeling sick since I found out about my raised CA125 results, but I've also been having diarreah also. This morning, I had the usual pain on my right hand side of my belly button that I've had for over a month asince last flair up, like a niggling pressure pain and I had to go to toilet right away. I spotted the littlest bit of bright blood poo in my stools. I'm just wondering if anyone's expereinced anything like this? Could it be linked to some medical gastro problem, or could it be related to my ovary/ca125 results. I'd really appreciate your thoughts :)

  • To be honest it could be anything from piles to peppers you ate causing the redness, it’s worth keeping an eye on and seeing the doctor if it continues. If you’ve had trouble with bowel movements it could be a bit of a graze. I get that quite often as I’m both ways, constipated but then I get loose stools which really hurt my belly (and bottom lol)

hopefully its it’s nothing but definitely keep an eye on it!

  • Thanks for messaging back Joanne. I know what you mean about peppers etc, but it was definayely blood, it was really tiny though and I saw it in the toilet bowel with the diarreah. I wouldn't have usually noticed it but I make the consious effort to look, as I know the the diarreaghs been pretty bad the last couple of days. I'm not getting constipation anymore because my diets completely different now, however the diarreah is yellow when wiping, so it reminds me of those short flair ups I would get evey month/couple of months. It was bright red also. I've had bleeding with soreness before but this blood was different, like it has been on a few isolated occasions since april time. I usually always get this pressure pain on the right of my belly button, but it's worse in the mornings when I lay on my back and need to empty my bowls. Ah it's so weird, wish I had like a book of all of the answers! How are you feeling today Joanne? I just want this scan day to get here!

  • I can imagine, it makes you paranoid doesn't it! I'm aware more of every pain, but I do feel like the pain's got a lot worse in the last week. What did the dr last say about the placelets? It could be like mine, and decrease. My placelets were a cause of concern before, but they descreased when I had my CA125 results back. It doesn't mean that you have cancer at all, the dr said to me it is usually to do with inflammation somewhere, and in my case it was brough down so it can decrease, it doesn't appear permanent. How are you feeling today? I've noticed more pain in my pelvic right region last few days, but I get obviously the pain near my belly button on my right too, and bad pain on my top right hand side, around the very top right abdomen. Any ideas of what that could be? I got ultrasound for suspected gallstones and it al vame back fine.

  • Yeah I can imagine it must be sore for you, take it easy. I was really sore after a biopsy a few weeks ago, and they told me I have lichens schlerosis. I can imagine it must be so hard for you with what's going on, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Yeah, it's weird with the top right pain as it comes and goes, but it's been coming and going for a few weeks and when I get it it's sharp. I had it this morning, but now I have more pelvic pain - it changes. I haven't thought about deflatine, thanks for the tip. I hope you can try and relax a little, and try not to let the placelets control your mind. I know it's easier said than done, I am looking online a lot but I'm trying to distract myself too.

  • Hiya

I know how worried you are, I am 52 I went to gp at the end of may with a crampy period pain which Id been having every month since February. I had blood tests and an ultrasound, to my horror my ca125 came back raised at 120, I had no other symptoms apart from the pain once a month, had an ultrasound which showed a complex cyst 5cm, I was fastracked to gynaecologist, had appointment on Monday and had MRI this morning and she said she would ring me tomorrow with results. I'm trying to keep as positive as I can, as my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in march so I'm just getting over that.

    Keep strong xx

  • Hiya

The ultrasound sonographer said it wasn't screaming out cancer but couldn't be  100 per cent sure. The gynaecologist said the MRI would determine what was going on. When examined she said she couldn't feel anything that shouldn't be there.i just feel constantly sick but I think that is anxiety and worry as when I'm at work it's so busy I don't have time to think about it. You will be mega worried, my husband's philosophy was don't worry till something to worry about and if it's there you can't change it but you can deal with it.

Let me know how you get on.

    Big hugs x

  • Ah I wish you the best ladies, it's so nervewracking! From what I read, it's looking positive. In terms of the sonographer, do they just tell you there and then? When I had my upper abdominal scan, I had to wait a week.

  • Sorry to hear about your hubby and yourself, it must be so hard for you both right now. I’m liking his philosophy though! What were your main symptoms that made them do the tests if you don’t mind me asking? As mine seems to have just tested me because I’ve mentioned it

Im also having pain on the right side of my belly button coming and going. I’ve got it right now as I’m laying down with my son getting him to sleep. I can’t stop thinking about it all and googling like mad. I know I shouldn’t but I feel like every pain I get is linked to cancer now. I’ve been having on and off ear pain either side which is really strange and worrying me that maybe it’s gone to my brain. I know that’s extreme but I’m a worrier :( I have headaches a lot too with a sharp stabbing pain on the top right of my head. Like an ice pick. I’m probably worrying for nothing, I hope.

Im having my blood tests tomorrow I’m not looking forward to the 8 day wait for the results. If they find something do you think they’ll call me sooner? So would no new be good news or would they just wait for my appointment next Friday?

Im feeling tired and irritable. Emotional and confused. My aunt has her plan in place now, it’s slightly spread to her stomach so she’s got chemo for that first, then the operation to remove the ovary and then more chemo after and hopefully they’d have got rid of the cells in the stomach by then.

Bea I hope everything goes well for your mum this must be so hard for you :(
