22 & I think I have cervical cancer

Hi, would anybody be able to advice me ?

I have been spotting/light bleeding non stop everyday for 7 weeks now,I have brown discharge that has a very strong horrible smell. I have soooooo much pelvic cramps. Not to mention after sex theres alot of blood when I wipe up.

I done a blood test but didnt come back saying anything was wrong only that I have very low white blood cells and very low vitamin D levels.

I had a pelvic exam and a internal ultrasound and nothing was found apart from my enlarged ovaries and pcos diagnosed.

I definitely feel I'm going to the toilet alot more (to pee). I know something isn't right....I feel it inside. Would it be worth me going private to find out what's going on as i have the private health insurance or do you think I should wait on NHS .

I'm nervous that this is early stage cancer. Can anyone tell me what symptoms they've had??? And if anyone has gone private how long till you're diagnosed and treated verses NHS ?

  • Hi Nicky

I’m sure the symptoms you are having, which must be very worrying, could have many explanations rather than cancer. I’m assuming that you might not have had a smear test due to your age.

I do have cervical cancer, although I’m fine at the moment, and I would think the first thing you should do is go back to your doctor to see if you can be referred to a gynaecologist to do further investigations.

From my experience in speaking to lots of women who have either precancerous cells in their cervix or cervical cancer, there are many different symptoms and many of these symptoms are also present with problems other than cervical cancer.

So I would recommend initially trying to get a referral to a gynaecologist on the NHS to see what’s going on. I can say that on the NHS things go very quickly if there is a suspicion of cancer-for example my treatment started 6 weeks after diagnosis, and would have been quicker had I not been waiting for an NHS number (I moved from Scotland to England so needed to register again).

Hope this helps a little, and let us know how it goes. xx
