Pet/ct and haematology results this week.

Hey,

its been a long couple of months for me, back in April I was referred to a hematologist as my doctor suspected leukaemia, but after standard blood tests came back normal and only protein in my urine my appointment was no longer ‘urgent’ so I went for my first appointment on 25th May. There more bloods were taken, she felt my lymph nodes and didn’t say anything other than she was referring me for a pet/ct scan for potential lymphoma. I received a letter that also went to my gp where she stated that I had palpable axillary nodes, I hadn’t felt these but obviously checked for them and could a lump on one side, since then the lump has remained, it doesn’t hurt and it has ever so slightly grown in size over the past month (not much at all) I’ve been having a lot of other symptoms too, I had my pet/ct scan on 11th June and finally this week on 27th June I go back for my results of the blood tests and scan...

I’m wondering if I will be referred for a biopsy of the lump next or if she will diagnose anything there and then. All this waiting has been so long and frustrating xx

  • Hi Ashlou,

I can nly respond from a patient pont of view but my guess is that the next stage will depend on the results of your CT scan and blood tests.

If you have an advanced cancer the chances are that the CT scan will have shown this. If not, the blood tests will probably indicate why your lymph nodes are as they are.

    Good luck for Thursday!

  • THankyou for your replies Dave and Sammy,

i am hoping that potentially no news is good news, if I was at an immediate threat with my life they would have phoned me already! So maybe a good sign, although I’ve never been tested for cancers etc before so I have no idea what the waiting times can be like, through reading posts in this forum it seems that everyone goes through this ‘waiting’ stage. Definitely think this is the worst part of it all, even if I get a diagnosis i don’t think it will feel as bad because at least I will have answers.
