Is it bowel cancer?

hi I’m Becci, I’m 28 years old and scared I could possibly have bowel cancer. I started bleeding from the rectum in February, I went to the doctors after a couple of weeks of bleeding and sent me for blood and stool samples which came back clear. I was still bleeding so they have referred me to gastro but that was a 12 week wait. The appointment is next week but within these past 3 months I have had bleeding, abdominal pain nearly every day, fatigue, nausea and a change in stool consistency. I was just looking to see if there’s anyone who has had these symptoms and just for some advice really. I’d really appreciate anyone replying if they have bowel cancer or had the same symptoms and it wasn’t. Thank you

    Hi Becci - you are obviously very worried & I know how that feels. Of course I have no idea what the problems you are experiencing might be because we are all different. However, I have been having very similar symtoms to yours & had been sent for cancer checks. I had a number of tests done & ALL came back clear. I have had an appointment this morning with a Consultant Gastroenerologist who wants me to have a colonoscopy but says he isn't really worried & thinks I might have IBS so the colonosocopy really is just to be on the safe side.

    Do your best not to focus on the worst case scenario but on the best case scenario - like mine. You can't change the time you have to wait but perhaps you can think about the way you spend that time i.e. keeping busy doing normal everyday things.

    Hey,

    I was in this position earlier this year, some blood in stools, abdominal pain (but this has been an issues for years), nausea, bloating, change in bowel habits ect having had a colonoscopy and mri scan my gastro consultant has said that she thinks its just severe ibs or inflammatory bowel diease just have one more test to decide between these two and she does not think these symptoms are related to any bowel cancer as i was worred due to family history of bowel cancer. I am also 28 and the test so far have ruled out any bowel cancer at this time.
