Concerned

I noticed what felt like a swollen lymph node in my left groin area 5 months ago, I also had been very bloated at the time and went to the doctor and had bloods taken. I was reassured everything was fine. 5 months later, I have more palpable lymph nodes on both sides of the groin and have lost weight unintentionally. I’ve been eating as normal but have no want for food in comparison to what I used to. I also had some strang vaginal discharge for 2-3 months around the time I first went to the doctor but that has since reduced.

I went to my old GP who had my notes realeased from said previous visit. She’s told me the only thing that hasn’t been done is “ovarian blood test”, and she’s referred me for an abdominal and pelvic ultrasound. I’m confused as to what “ovarian bloods” are and was wondering if anyone could share insight. Thanks

  • Hello R86user,

It looks like you have taken the right steps in going back to your GP and getting checked out again and your GP is being very thorough. It might be worth double checking with her what she means by the ovarian blood test but it is likely that she is referring to the CA125 blood test which can be routinely done during investigations and you can find out more about this at the bottom of this page.  If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to give our nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 and they will be able to tell you more about it and what it all means.

I hope that you won't have to wait too long for your abdominal and pelvic ultrasound and we are keeping everything crossed for you for good results.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you. I was looking up ovarian bloods after my chat with my gp and the ca 125 was the only thing coming up on google. The whole thing has me quite worried now but hopefully it’s all grand! Thanks for your response, I’ll keep posted on any updates
