Got my endoscopy next Sunday been waiting for 6 weeks for it now it’s even closer getting more worried what they are going to find my symptoms have got so much worse feel unwell everyday

  • Hi 43reg,

I'm sorry to read you're feeling worried although it's perfectly natural to feel that way. At least after next Sunday you will have clear answers and less uncertainty.

Try not to dwell on the upcoming appointment too much and perhaps try to do things that distract you from thinking about it. I know this is easier said than done.

If you have any questions or concerns about how you're feeling, jot them down and then you can always ask your doctor at the appointment.

Do let us know how you get on, if you would like to.

Wishing you all the best and I hope the wait this week isn't too difficult.

  • Thank you I will let you know I feel so let down by my doctor who put down as non urgent because I didn’t meet the criteria I had waited for 7 weeks for my appointment I had rang telling him symptoms were getting worse and he never rang me back and the over doctor to just told me to hold on in their, now I am so scared I have been ill everyday .

  • hi - sorry to read your post about how worried you are. I know what it's like waiting - it's horrid. I've had lots of tests recently & they've all come back clear. Just one more to go but feeling positive about it. I'm talking about myself rather than you just to show that things are not all doom & gloom. Whilst I was waiting for tests & results my symptoms got much, much worse & now that I have the results I've started to feel much better. My GP says worry/anxiety DOES make symptoms worse & this is likely what's happening to you. There's every chance that you have nothing serious to worry about & even if there is an issue (a) it's best to know & (b) it's very likely treatable.

The trouble is we humans tend to look for  the worst not the best & you're human & doing just that! That's not to say you're being silly or over dramatic of course. Keep as busy as you can & the time will pass more quickly.

I do hope this helps you a bit. Good luck.

  • Thanks for the reply I had been suffering from anxiety back in January but sorted myself out , then I have been burping constantly and no medication worked on me since February And hasn’t stopped ,and now my whole body keeps burning up all day and night and been going through it for the last 5 weeks so now i have got it in my head it’s serious now  as my doctor mentioned stomach cancer , I will let you know what they say after my appointment and thank you

  • Hi - you are another day closer to getting things sorted out so that's good. Your GP mentioned stomach cancer - mine mentioned bowel cancer but turned out ok. Because it's mentioned doesn't mean it's there - they are just being cautious & rightly so. As I said before anxiety makes symptoms worse. The symptoms are very real & scary but come from the brain not necessarily from an organ in your body. Hard to accept when you are feeling awful I know but it IS the case.

You are hanging on in there & that's what matters. Keep as busy/distracted as you can.

    All the best.

  • Hi had my endescopy today , they said I got some inflammation in my stomach, they have took some biopsy and have to wait two weeks for them , I have got myself worked up now because I read the letter what they saw on endescopy and down below it said two week suspected cancer need to go outpatients the person I spoke to at hospital don’t know why it says that

  • Hi there - sorry to hear you've had a worrying time today. Try not to worry if you can. Remeber 9 out of 10 people referred for cancer tests don't have it. Why should you not be one of the 9?:)

If you read the letter correctly it says 'suspected' that doesn't mean they think you have it. I know how hard waiting is 'cause I've had to do it myself. Best thing is to keep as busy as you can doing normal, everyday stuff so that the time will pass quickly. Even if there is an issue it's better to know & get it sorted out & if not, you can happily get on with your life.

Things are more likely than not to turn out well. Good wishes to you. x

  • Hi 43reg, been following your posts because I also find myself with symptoms similar to yours. Wondering how you’re getting on?

  • Hi had my biopsy’s results back they were normal ,been on medication for last 4 weeks still hasn’t helped my constant burping so I am still worried why i still got the symptoms.
