Help with symptoms

I would like some advice with these symptoms and what people think. I’ve been to my doctors and she’s booked me in for a US Pelvis Transvaginal scan but it’s not for another 2 weeks...

ive not had a period for 7 months. Before my periods were heavy and every 2-3 weeks, and that was happening for about 4-5 months. Recently I’ve been getting a dull aching pain like I’m coming on my period but nothing happens and I’ve been gettin loads of slimy mucus that’s got a brown tinge to it. I’m always constantly drained no matter how much sleep I get. My appetite is also hit and miss. The last time I had sex it was painful but I’ve not had sex since as I’ve lost the desire to have it.

a few years ago I had a smear and found out I had abnormal cells and summet else to go with it (HPV?). I had to go every year after for a check up but haven’t been. I’m now panicking thinkin everything’s linked and it’s summet serious that’s wrong. I’m only 31

  • Hello LilNat23,

You've done the right thing to go and see the doctor and even though the wait can feel like a lifetime now it won't be too long now before you get booked in for your ultrasound scan.

I think it is important though to attend your yearly check ups so do try and go to the next one just to be on the safe side. Make sure you mention to your doctor too that you have missed these check ups so that they have your full medical history.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are also some helpful tips on this page to help you cope with the wait.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
