Initial Results Letter

Hi all, 

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place.

Ive been flicking through the posts regarding the results (of initial smear) letters. Mine simply says my test has shown abnormal cells and I will be sent an appointment for a colposcopy. 

It seems that other peoples letters give way more info.. for example Low grade/High grade etc.

Can anyone help me with this.. Im terrified!!

    Sorry to hear that you've received a letter telling you that you need further tests.

    It is likely that your hospital uses a standardised letter to send out to patients and it may be that they've decided to keep the information simple in the hope of not worrying people by using terms such as "high grade" etc. 

    Your GP should have recieved a copy of your smear results and the referral letter so maybe you can give them a call to discuss things. Hopefully they will be able to give you some more information and put your mind at ease.
