Ovarian cancer worry

A year ago I went to the doctor with breathlessness, difficulty swallowing,  feeling full quickly and cough. Despite endoscopy etc I'm still non the wiser and still have the symptoms. Then 5 weeks ago I started having diarrhoea every day which is very rare for me as I'm usually constipated and now for the last few days my belly constantly looks like I'm 7/8 months pregnant. I went to doctor who tried to say it was IBS but as I've never suffered with it and I'm 52 I stood my ground and I'm now being referred to gynecologist and waiting to have scan and blood test. Has anyone else had my symptoms as I'm worried and find it hard to talk to anyone as they just dismiss my worries

  • Hi did the Dr feel your tummy and if so, what did they say?

I have just been through this after my Dr felt something and sent me for an ultrasound. I have today been given the news that I have a small cyst but Dr is 100% it is benign. I suffer with IBS and what you have to remember is IBS and Ovarian Cysts can mimic each other, bloating, loss of appitite and IBS can come on at any time and can be caused by stress. You have done right to stand your ground and ask for a referrel but please do not worry about it as it could be a benign cyst or IBS. I have just spent a week worrying myself sick and I need not have done. Most cysts are benign and that is what you have to remember. Let us know how you get on.

  • Hi

Thanks for replying. Doctor didn't say anything after feeling my tummy but when I was making appointment for blood test she rushed out to tell me she was going to refer me for a scan. I have never suffered with IBS. My stomach is constantly enlarged now and my pelvic pain is becoming more troublesome. I have a friend who had very similar symptoms to me and after 18 visits to her doctor was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. I am trying not to worry

  • Hi just wondering how you are doing? I'm in the same position and extremely worried
