Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear that your mum has been recalled as a result of her mammogram. I too lost my own mum to breast cancer and was diagnosed myself 10 years ago. The following year I had another bout.

My poor mum had a very hard time and I went into pure panic mode when I was diagnosed as a result of this. Fortunately, my experience has been totally different than that which my mum went through. Diagnosis, treatment and after care have all come on leaps and bounds in the intervening 10 years, thanks mostly to our friends at Cancer Research and other similar organisations.

I was called back after a routine mammogram a number of years ago, but it turned out that this was just because my original scan was not all that clear. Fortunately the second one was fine and showed no abnormalities.

I hope that the same happens to your mum. Do please let us know how she gets on.

Ok so update: she had a second mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. they said that the mammogram showed what was most likely calcifications but they were clustered and my gran had what seemed to be calcifications that ended up as stage 2 cancer so

This sounds like good news. If the clusters weren't all that clear, I presume that they may be microcalcifications?

Does your mum have to return for further tests, or has she been discharged?

she had the biopsy today and is going back for results on Monday as the calcifications weren’t confirmed x
