Hysteroscopy procedure

I had a hysteroscopy 4 weeks today,  and I'm still nervously waiting for the results.  I expected to hear something after maybe 2 weeks,  but I'm still waiting 4 weeks on.  After the hysteroscopy I was told I have 2 polyps that need removing.  Is this routine or might they have seen something that didn't look normal during procedure.  I was  in such shock during and just after the hysteroscopy, I completely forgot to ask any sensible questions. I have a friend who has also recently had a hysteroscopy and 1 polyp was found. They are not removing hers though. I'm wondering why some are removed and not others? And if like me you are told they are bring removed, does this equal bad news? Hoping someone might be able to help calm my nerves and help me understand a little more about the process after a hysteroscopy.

  • Hi Natty1

welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting for the results of your hysteroscopy. Have you given your GP or the hospital a call to see how much longer it might be before you hear? Waiting for results can be such a stressful time!

There could be any number of reasons why a Consultant decides to remove polyps from one person and not for another and it's important to remember that we are all different. What might be necessary or appropriate for one individual may be quite different to someone else. I wouldn't nececssarily take it as "bad news" that you've been told that yours will need to be removed.

Hopefully you'll be able to get in touch with someone in the next few days and find out how long you might be waiting to hear.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you kindly for replying to my hysteroscopy questions. Yes I have spoken with Hospital Thursday last week (& it looks like there has been a delay in my results and they did apologise for that).. I'm hoping I may hear the results next week. Thank you for your thoughts and answering my questions.

    Many thanks
