Polyps?

Hi, I have had very heavy periods for a couple of years, but I then missed 2 periods...me thinking I am approaching the menopause (I’m 49) didn’t think much more about it until I had a lot of lower abdo pain and bloating...anyway had a blood test done and my CA-125 levels came back higher than normal, inflammatory markers higher than normal, kidney and liver function borderline as well as thyroid borderline...I then had a few days of light spotting, and 3 weeks ago had a period from hell...I was given a scan and my endometrial lining is thickened to 19mm...I had a pipelle biopsy a couple of days ago, but I can’t get this off my mind right now...I know I need to wait a couple of weeks for results...but I’m constantly thinking about this...is anybody in this limbo state right now?...has somebody else been through this that can advise me on the likelihood that it’s nothing serious, and what can I expect to sort out the symptoms that I have?

  • Hi Mistiminx

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with these health problems at the moment. It sounds like it's been a particularly difficult time for you recently.

I know that lots of folks here will be able to identify with the "limbo state" that you describe in your post. This period of waiting for tests/results can be a hard one. The not knowing can inevitably lead to thinking all sorts of things. Unfortunately though until your test results come back no one can give you any answers about causes and treatment.

Although much easier said than done, try not to Google for information. Try to keep busy and take each day at a time. If you feel that chatting to one of our team of nurses might help then you are very welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your results.
    Best wishes,

  • Hi, thank you for your response... I’m hoping to know more in about a week...I have been given an out patient appointment for the 2nd July so imagine that’s when I will find out what’s wrong and how we proceed from there in sorting out the health issues I am having, fingers crossed for a good outcome and hoping all this is just menopausal related...it does cast a seed of doubt when the doctor mentions possible cancer though...I am doing what you advise and trying to keep busy
