Help

Hi I'm probably in the wrong place as I haven't got cancer but I have had a lot of bladder/urethra problems for 3 years and today I was finally seen by a urologist during which I had a rigid cystoscopy. The consultant after I woke up told me that he hadn't seen anything other than white unnatural mucus? At the entrance to the bladder. He didn't take a sample and said he wasn't worried as he knew what it was. He then told me that a lot of people get it but it's very low risk of becoming something worse and that I have to get a flexible cystoscopy in a year just to keep an eye on it. Now he didn't tell me what it was just showed me a picture on Google and the writting was in possibly Russian. Now I'm freaking out and I'm terrified this is going to develop into something worse.

  • Hi Bambi86w,

I'm sorry to read about your worries. It's natural to feel this way, especially if you don't have all the information you need to give you a clear picture of what's going on. Try not to think about the worst - even though I know this can be easier said than done.

Try to trust your medical team and the tests they've done. If you have any questions or doubts or uncertainties about what you've heard so far, make an appointment with your GP to discuss the results. Prior to that, write down any questions or concerns you have so that you can discuss everything you want to.

It's good that they are keeping an eye on it and that you have a follow-up appointment too. In the meantime, get any additional answers you can from your GP to help with explaining everything.

    Wishing you all the best.
