I have read several posts to see the general waiting time for biopsy results and am quite suprised that my husband has waited 4 weeks today. His GP was given the results last Friday however has not contacted my husband today. The receptionist have been very unhelpful as well giving no explanation for failung to contact.  Surely a 5 minute call to a patient to discuss results would be a decent GPs priority. So disappointed with our surgery. Our surgery closes in half an hour and still no call. ️ ️

  • Hi Angela, yes you would think so, but as you will see if you unfortunately have to come back on this forum, nothing is the norm.  So keep pestering them, but as the old saying goes, no news is good news.  My husband has lung cancer and we were recalled two days after the biopsy because it was bad.  So call again tomorrow. They won't talk to you as you probably know, I hope all goes well for you both.  Best if luck, Carol

  • Yeah I know no news is good news but a reassuring call or update would be good.  The duty doctor called 2 minutes before surgery shut to say a letter will be sent out from hospital in next 3 to 5 days?? Never heard of biopsy results being sent to your home. This poor communication system between hospitals and GPs and similairly GPs to patients is terrible.  Feeling let down.

  • The results can be sent to your home, the GP practice will get a copy, or they will cc you in the letter to your GP.  Then you will know what is happening.  Carol
