Severe health anxiety- convincing myself I have oral cancer

Hi , I’m a 16 year old girl who has bad health anxiety.

I hope by posting on here I won’t seem inconsiderate in any way. My issue is I find the smallest bump or mark or just any sensation and google it which always ends up in me telling myself it’s probably cancer.

lately I’ve become obsessed with looking in my mouth because I’m so convinced I have oral cancer. I look on google and I have every symptom , peeling, reeking gums, white marks, pain even black behind my teeth. My mouth is always a bit dry no matter how much I drink and I’ve got to the stage where I’m convinced it’s something serious. It keeps me up at night worrying but I’m still to scared to go to the dentist.

i just wondered if anyone related in anyway or had any advice. Thank you

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Jade16.

I see from your post that you are worried about some symptoms you have.  The best thing to do is to go and see your doctor about these problems.

When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online forum, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better.  And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Wishing you all the best,
