Hi Rob. From what i understand prostate should be a bit squishy (eg if you have a balloon blown up about 3/4 that would be about normal) blown up fully it's a lot firmer you can feel the difference., like you say it could be something else it's a question of waiting for results, there is four gents on the forum had different things done if you want more information hopefully we can help. Thanks for responding - sorry I've only just seen your response having joined a number of different forums!  So been with dad today for mri results,.  Confirned mass in right quadrant of prostate and a 1 cm shadow on hip bone :-( PSA 145! Presumably this has spread and classed as advanced - despite no real symptoms!!  What I want to know is are there treatment options that will slow things down and prolong life or is it game over.  My head is in a spin god only knows how dad is feeling :-(! 

Hi robbo, i might surprise you my psa was 1581 gleason 8 stage 4 it went from prostate to lymph nodes, spine, ribs and pelvis and one lung, that was Feb 2016 Im on permanent hormone therapy and now and again have cemo when neaded my psa last march was 0.8,there are other's on forum with different treatments hopefully they will get in touch with you soon,.

P.s with those readings i had no symptoms either, just lucky had blood tests one was psa,. 

Wow!  I think you've answered my question though which pretty much was if it is diagnosed as advanced are there things that can be done.  I am worried dads age and other issues may affect treatment options.  He has mid stage COPD, high blood pressure but controlled with meds and border line type 2 diabetes.  How is hormone and chemo delivered - injection or table.  Do you feel well enough to travel and do normsl stuff?  Presumably you're a lot younger than my dad at 76 soon to be 77

Thanks for all your help Billy.  I hope they keep you stable.  Dad been called for bone scan tomorrow.  I feel sick thinking about it all and what's to come.  My dads like it is what it is and if they can sort me fantastic if they can't we have to get on with it!  I'm trying to stay upbeat when I'm with him and mum but it's really really hard :-(!  I like to plan and know what we're doing but feel I'm totally out if control with it all.

Oh by the way I've still got my prostate they said with it spreading so far it was a waste of time, some have it out others keep it., it depends on circumstances.,
