Tongue bumps

Hello everyone

I’m really sorry to be posting but apparently my recent post didn’t go through, I wish to appologise In advance as I have not been diagnosed with anything nor do I wish to say I have any symptoms relating as they could be something else.

To keep it brief I burnt my tounge on a hot drink a few weeks back and the burn appears to still be there, I hope it’s a burn at least.

As of today when checking said burn I noticed a small bump on the side of my tongue, it’s just on the corner/tip of my tounge and is flesh coloured.

When running a finger across it does feel like it’s part of the tongue itself, however it sticks out slightly and when checking for symmetry on the other side it’s only the right side that has said bump.

My first initial reaction was googling symptoms which I know isn’t the best thing to do, but I was in such a panic I just jumped the gun. And obviously the worst things came up and it had me in a bad state.

I do apologise for posting again and talking about this, but I just wondered if tounge bumps can be other things and if anyone has any advice or relatable experiences as this is driving me somewhat insane.

  • Hi mythicalwatson,

I'm sorry to read about your worries. The best thing to do if you have any concerns is to visit your doctor. They are always best placed to advise on any symptoms you have. I would suggest making an appointment, and then in the meantime to write down any questions or concerns you have so that you're able to ask everything during your appointment and get the answers you need to help you.

In the meantime if you have any questions for our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5). Please note they are unable to diagnose or give a medical opinion.

And yes do try to stay away from Google - I know it's tempting but it's rarely helpful as you need advice and answers that are specific to you and from a medical professional.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
