Cervical polyp

I had a cervical polyp removed in February. I heard nothing and stupidly assumed it was all ok. A friend got me to check several weeks ago and was told results were pending. I received a phone call from hospital yesterday requesting a follow up appointment next week. This terrified me although I later rang gynae surgery who told me polyp was benign. Is a follow up normal if that is the case?

  • Hi Missmarple,

It's good that you were able to check with the hospital. A follow up appointment may just be to discuss your results and also to provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions. Of course I'm not able to say exactly what the appointment will be for, however I'd suggest you take any questions you may have to ask them at the time, so that you have all the information.

If you have any questions for our nurses ahead of your appointment, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best.
