Breast lump Biopsy results

Sorry if this shows up twice, I tried to post and it disappeared. Just after some advice to either prepare me or calm me down I'm not sure which one.

Went to breast clinic a week ago for lump ultrasound a biopsy. They didn't really say anything what they thought it could be, had two previous benign lumps and they told me straight away no biopsy needed. Said would be a week for results and is it okay to telephone the results if all clear, I said yes that is okay. Was in shock to ask what they thought, didn't think until later. I've recieved a letter today to go and meet with consultant again next week.

Does this mean it isn't good news? They did say they would phone if it came back okay.

Thank you in advance.

  • I’m in a similar situation - had fine needle aspiration on a lump and they have gotten in contact with me saying I need to see the consultants and an immediate date but the day the letter came was the day after that appointment. I’ve since had a letter saying I need a core biopsy as ‘unusual cells’ have been found, I have three very young children two are babies so absolutely but terrified as I’ve already been treated for ovarian cancer four years ago.

  • Sorry to hear that you are in a similar situation and that you have already had ovarian cancer :(. When is the date for your biopsy? You must be going out of your mind with worry. I'm 28 and also have three children. I've had two bring lumps and they felt totally different to this lump and moved around  they said straight away they were benign and no need for biopsy. This time I had to have core biopsy and they didn't say what they thought it may be. Just they would ring if it was all clear instead of taking up an appointment. So surely they would of rang if everything was okay? Sorry for going on I just dont know what to think.

And sorry that you are going through this, I wish you all the best at your next appointment x

  • My next appointment for the core biopsy is weds next week so at least only four more days and I am hoping I can get some information about what this might mean as from all my reading I am thinking it looks like I wont avoid surgery. I am breast feeding a five month old too at the moment so worried about gown it might impact that.

When have you been called in? Usually if they think it’s cancer they will bring you in immediately or call you up.  I wouldn’t be too worried about being called back as there are so many conditions it couldn’t be. I wasnt worried about call back to see the consultants as they don’t hat anyways usually usually after tests it it’s this idea of abnormality in the cells.
