2 Urgent Referrals in 2 months

Hello there,

Not sure why I'm posting this, but I'm worried sick and wanted to see if anyone has been through a similar thing and what people's outcomes were?

I'm in my late 20s and I got an urgent referral for a mole about month and a half ago. They've done a full body imaging (taken pictures of all of my moles with little measurement things next to it), and now will need to see the dermatologist every 3 months. My mole has been biopsied last week and I'm still waiting for the results from pathology. This mole that has been biopsied was not a mole I was worried about at all...this mole was picked up by the dermatologist at my GP and then by the dermatologist in the hospital.

This week I went to the doctors for some blood results...but because I have a lump in my armpit/breast I thought I should probably mention it. The doc did an exam and she sent me for another urgent referral but this time to the breast clinic. I'm waiting on that appointment still.

I'm trying to think that both of these things are unrelated, and am just trying to be patient. But the fact that I'm now waiting on results, AND an appointment, is making me feel very unsettled.

I'm staying busy with work and general life stuff and that helps, but it just all feels a little like a rollercoaster at the moment...

Anybody gone through the same thing?

thanks in advance.

  • Hi Anna,, nearly every one on the forum has been through it, oh and welcome, like you've found keeping busy helps a lot please keep in touch, let us know how things are going, safe journey.

  • Hi,

You are certainly going through the mill anna123 but hopefully they aren't connected and neither are found to be cancer.

Research has been undergoing for some time to see if there is a link between these two cancers and there isn't yet any definitive answer. It is known though, that some patients who have been diagnosed with a cancer may later go on to be diagnosed with a second cancer that is totally unrelated.

Just out of interest can I ask where your mole was?
