Hi guys. Been reading the forum for a while now but this is my first post. Quick background - I started having change in bowel habits and rectal bleeding about two years ago. There was a huge delay in having this looked at as it started at the same time as a lump appeared on my chest. This turned out to be arthritis of the sc joint and no longer gives me much bother. After this diagnosis I still had the bowel problems and returned to my doctor. Blood tests showed low platlete count but no other issues. I was then referred for a colonoscopy. This showed a couple of small polyps in the sigmoid colon and a large, irregular sessile polyp in the transverse ascending colon. I was told that I would need to come back to see a surgeon to have this removed. I now have this appointment on Monday and have a few questions. During the first colonoscopy they took biopsies around the sessile polyp and randomly around my bowel. These came back all normal yesterday. My question is, if these biopsies were all normal, does that mean there is zero chance that this polyp is malignant? Also I was wondering about recovery times for this procedure? I've been told I will be in hospital overnight but that's about it so far. Should I be looking at a couple of days or a couple of weeks before I go back to work/gym etc?
Any info or help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Andy.
