Primary Peritoneal Cancer

Is there anyone else who has been diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer?

My Mom is 73 and currently waiting for biopsy results for Primary Peritoneal Cancer. She’s really unwell, has lost over 3 stone in weight over the last 2 months and is deteriorating by the day. We are worried that she won’t be strong enough to have chemo if she continues to deteriorate.

The waiting is incredibly tough.

As it’s a very rare cancer it would be good to here from anyone else who has experience of this.

  • Hi Starae212

Thank you for your message asking about me and mum. How is your mum doing? In treatment for 6 years obviously means she has been responding well and they are managing to keep her stable, which is fantastic. I really hope that still the case as I notice you replied in October, but I have only just seen it.

unfortunately, mum's story didn't have the happy ending we all desperately hoped for. We knew from her prognosis it wasn't going to be cured, but we hoped for a lot longer. She passed in November, 11 months after being diagnosed. I still haven't come to terms with any of it really.

I think your mum's brave battle gives hope to the next generation of people who unfortunately find their way onto this thread, looking for hope and answers. I'm sure it's not been an easy journey for you at all, but it's good for others to see that PPC can be managed. Like I said, I really hope she is till stable and you are alL coping. It's really not easy seeing your mum have treatment for cancer. I hope you are doing as well as you can.

Thanks again for asking about mum, i appreciate it. if you feel able to update with how you're mum is now, I will look out for the post.

    Take care, Johol xx
