I have been experiencing a lot of different symptoms since about 2015. Lower back pain and spotting were the main initial symptoms. The symptoms have progressed to very heavy menstruation and accompanying anemia, constant dull back pain and at times sharp intense left lower back pain with spotting, watery bloody discharge when not menstruating.
I was due to have laparoscopy to remove cysts from left ovary at a particular hospital but anesthesiologist referred me to different hospital ( due to different condition). I was on year waiting list and at preassessment the consultant decided I should get another ultrasound to see if cysts still there before going ahead.
At ultrasound they could not view properly due to time of cycle so had a second ultrasound 2 and half weeks ago. The results were
endometrium thickened measuring 2.4cm and heterogeneous in appearance.
1.7cm hyperechoic lesion in fundal region suspicious for endometrial polyp.
Further relatively hypoechoic area may reflect further polyp or submucosal fibroid.
Within left ovary several cysts. Some contain low level echoes. Largest measures 3.4x2.1 cm and contains thin septum. Some cysts represent endometriosis cysts, collapsing harmorrhagic cyst measuring approximately 1.6cm also noted.
At the scan I was told I may need another ultrasound but I have not heard anything yet from either radiology or received a consultant appointment. Should I be concerned? Should I ring hospital to ask for appointment with consultant or wait? Should I ask for biopsy to rule out endometrium cancer? I am 45 and premenopausal.
