Tooing and froing

Hi everyone,

Just registered as I think i’m likely to need to talk things over whilst waiting for results.

For about a year I have been getting (sometimes multiple) red leisions on my soft palate, which grow and move around, then disappear. The whole process is around 10 days. A week later the process starts again, not always in the same place.

Saw multiple GPs all seemed not worried, but ran a huge panel of blood tests to make sure nothing was missed. Thankfully everything was normal. Brought up the subject with my dentist, who thought it could be fungal, but offered to refer, to put my anxious mind at ease. 3 weeks later I saw a consultant who seemed perplexed, but not worried. Comments such as, i’m pretty sure it’s nothing sinister, but we’ll take a biopsy. Had the biopsy yesterday which was an experience! Now have a 3 week wait apparently.

The rational side of me says that something that comes and goes, can’t be a cancer. Is this correct? The irrational side of me thinks i’m going to get bad news.

Typically i’m on leave from work for two weeks so need to keep my mind busy!

help!

Chris

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Inverted, although I'm sorry to hear about what brings you here.

I see from your post that you are worried about some symptoms you experienced but I'm glad to hear that you took charge and went to the doctors to have these symptoms fully investigated and that your medical seem to be on the case.

When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online forum, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better.  And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Best wishes,
