Well..

This may sound stupid i dont know and not one to instantly think of the worst. Im 16 years old and have a big background of breat cancer.

3 days ago i noticed that i had 2 hard lumps in my right breast and 1 in my left. I thought nothing of it until the next day i realise i had 3 in my left breast and are extremely hard, dont move but are quite small. They vary in size.

I dont know what it is. I spoke to my mum about it, a paramedic, who called for a doctors appointment almost instant after she felt them.

I havent had pain in my breast but ive lost my appetite and losing rate quite rapidly.

  • Hi Megan and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

I'm sorry about the lumps you've found but you definitely did the right thing confiding in your mum.

Many of our members know how scary this time can be so I have no doubt some of them will pop by to offer their reassurance and support once they've seen your post.

Wishing you all the best for your appointment Megan. We'll have our fingers crossed these lumps are harmless.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello - sorry to hear of your worries.

I have had several small hard cysts in my breasts for over a decade now. They’re extremely common - called fibroadenomas. It may be what you have, also.

They can come and go over time, or remain harmlessly in the breast tissue. Main thing is, you get checked - just to put your mind at rest.

I imagine your GP may either ask you to monitor your breasts for a few months to see if they go away -  or refer you for a biopsy, just to be on the safe side.

Even with a family history - at 16 years old, it is much much more likely to be common harmless cysts.

Do get checked - but try not to worry xxx
