Could I have ovarian cancer?

Hi all, I’m sorry if I sound silly but I’m at my wits end. For 6 or 7 months now I’ve suffered with horrible abdominal pain and feel like there’s always gas in the lower region. My stomach makes strange noises and I often get red lines appearing on the skins surface although I’m unsure if they’re related to this or not. The pain seems to be quite general (sometimes travelling up my sides and back) and can be dull or sharp but is constantly there and seemingly not triggered by specific foods or anything in particular. My bowel habits (sorry!) are irregular and my periods are every two weeks (sorry again!). I’ve been diagnosed with ibs but I know this isn’t the issue. GP’s are very dismissive and are convinced I’m making it up so now I’m unsure as to whether ovarian cancer may be the cause. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you x

  • Hi Sesame209

Sorry to hear that you've been struggling with some health issues for a few months.

It sounds as if it's been a frustrating time for you but realistically the only person who will be able to answer your question will be a Dr. If you feel that the GP you've seen hasn't taken your concerns seriously then perhaps you would be able to make an appointment with another GP in the practice. Or maybe there is a nurse at the practice that you could speak to who may be more supportive in helping you get to the root of these problems.

I hope that you're able to get some firmer answers soon.

    Best wishes,
