Hi all

i recently went to the docs with a sore neck, he gave me antibiotics which cleared the infection I then noticed a hard lump. Very quickly I was booked to see a specialist who found to lumps he said were lymph nodes. So far I have had a ct scan, mri, soon for needle ultrasound for a biopsy...is this likely to be cancer or could I still be ok....just a bit concerned they would put someone under all these different tests if it was nothing, the waiting is awful. Thank you Ruth

  • Hi Ruth,

i hope you’re ok. I am going through a similar thing at the moment and can totally emphasize with the agonizing wait.

have the doctors said much at any point or after any tests as I have found mine to be pretty vague which I am unsure if that is a good or bad thing in terms of what may be the reason for the lump.

    best wishes x

  • Just the not knowing stage isn’t it? x

  • My docs haven’t said anything I suppose they are gathering results but I’ve got 2 weeks till the last exam

  • Yes, I go from thinking it’s getting smaller to obsessing over the very worst scenarios.

one thing for sure is it has definitely put a lot of things in perspective for me. I really hope we are both ok, keep me updated, I am

here if you need a chat x

  • Hi Ruth,

Have you had any blood tests done?

Usually when the lymph nodes are being investigated a lot of tests is being done at the same time. This is because they are in so many places in our bodies it gives the doctors a better picture and understanding if there is anything sinister going on.

At least when it's all done and the results come back clear you will be 100% sure nothing was missed out.

I went to my GP with enlarged lymph nodes in February. Took him 2 months to refer me to a specialist as he kept saying I had an infection (I didn't). Saw them in April and my first ct scan isn't until end of June as they are so busy. The wait is a torture and I don't even know when they are planning to do a biopsy. I'm just unlucky that I'm in the area where it takes so long to have anything done.

Fingers crossed all your tests come back normal xx
