  • Hi flo,

yes... could be menopause related - everything else gets put down to that doesn't it lol ... bloomin menopause, as if we women haven't had enough to contend with during our life, his cruel nature is to bestow menopause on us as well eh !!
All the very best to you too xxx

  • Hi all,

I've come on here after searching for a post menopausal bleeding forum. Aged 50. 4ish years into menopause. First had a bleed 18 months ago. Internal ultrasound clear except for the discovery of a large ovarian cyst. Cancer marker blood tests all clear and following an MRI, I was told it was a simple cyst (non malignant). 6 months ago I had another bleed. This time the GP saw on my cervix where the bleeding was and diagnosed vaginal atrophy. A smear test came back clear. Yesterday I experienced bleeding again. This time it was heavier and now although very light, I've had period type cramps. I've now been referred for a fast track appointment and will be seen in two weeks. I'm really worried that it's cancer as the doctor said heavier bleeding isn't usually a sign of vaginal atrophy. Has anyone experienced heavier bleeding and cramping and been ok? Is endometrial cancer slow growing or could it all have grown in the last 18 months since my last tests?

  • Hi Pipbella,

I had vaginal bleeding four years after I had the coil removed.  It was removed when I was 55 and July 2020 I went in for an examination.  I was 59.  I have endometrial hyperplasia, which means the lining is a bit thicker than it should be, hence the bleeding.  I've had two hystericopies, quite painful, and they came back clear.  I've another next Wednesday and if that's clear, I'm being discharged.  They put me on tablets initially, but they didn't suit, so now I've got another coil, much better.  Bleeding can be many things and considering all your tests have come back clear before, is a good sign.  Hopefully it's just your body adjusting to the next phase of your life.  Good luck.

  • HI Murf

Thanks very much for your reply.  I suffer from Health Anxiety so had a panic attack at the Drs I coudn't breathe.  Will they do all the tests on the same day do you think , I am worried sick about going for the tests.  Once the appointment comes through I will feel worse if that's possible atm.worried about going inthe hospital on my own as well due to Covid sure I will have another panic attack.  I have convinced mystelf it is going to be bad news.  At the moment don't even now if I can force myself to go for the tests.

Sorry to go on you sound so brave and I am really glad your results came through clear xx

  • Hi,

not likely to have all tests on same day, no.  I was very anxious before the procedures as well, so you're going to be feeling doubly anxious if you suffer from anxiety and panic attacks.  Please try not to worry too much about the procedures themselves, the hospital staff will look after you.  It's not so easy to not worry about the results, as it is an anxious time waiting to hear what the outcome of any biopsies might be.  Do you have anyone to support you and help you at this time? A partner, family member, or friend ?  I was able to have my husband with me during the hysteroscopy procedure.  Might be different at your hospital, but ask if you can have someone with you, and explain how anxious you are feeling.  I'm sure the hospital will be as supportive as they can be.
In the meantime, keep in touch on this forum, it helped me to have contact with people going through the same thing.

    Take care... xx

  • Hi Murf

Thank you I have told my friends and familly but to be honest nobdy can help because really your on your own I have to deal with it nobody else can.  I am so scared my husband just says don't worry unless you know there is something to worry about.  One of my other friends said she had googled it and I was right to worry ....  didn't help me at all

    xx

  • Hi I even  find smears almost impossible, so had convinced myself hospital would be dreadful.  However on my first appointment I just had abdominal ultrasound,. Later on I was supposed to have smear, hysteroscopy and polyp removal ( polyp was cause of some bleeding) but they just did the smear as realised I would find it too much.  I did lots and lots of googling down to the points calculation for your risk that then  gets you prioritised for treatment,  so the bleed is what gets you on the fastrack but in almost all cases it's nothing sinister, it's just something they check out now just in case x

  • Thank you Daisy I will try and stop googling my anxiety levels are through the roof xx
