Post menopausal bleeding

hi I am 51 . No period in 3 years then stared to bleed heavily . Doctor admitted me for scan . Scan showed 6mm womb lining . Ovaries fine cervix fine have been referred for hysterectomy and biopsy . I am so worried .bleeding stopped after about 4 to 5 days . Has anyone been through this I am so worried at the moment thanks

  • Hi Flo,

Got my biopsy results yesterday and they're clear with no signs of cancer cells present, thank god.   Just gotta sort out what's still going on with my abdomen now!! as it's no better.  Feels really 'tender' inside and still bloating/getting back aches.  Husband said he'll pay to get seen privately if need be for full abdominal scans etc - but concerned if do that and nothing found I'll look like a right hypochondriac and time waster.  You know your own body though don't you, and I know my stomach doesn't feel right.
Anyway... at least all ok with regards recent bleed - hopefully that will be the case for all of you lovely ladies going through same waiting game at moment.  Take care everyone. Xxx

  • Hi Murf,

That's fabulous news. I am so pleased you got good news

Have you spoken to your own doctor regarding the abdominal discomfort? Is it only since the biopsy? Don't disregard it. You need to put your mind at rest.

Let me know how you get on? I'm going to miss having our wee chats. I'm still playing the waiting game but hopefully I will hear very soon.

    Take care,

    X

  • Hi Flo,

Yes, it's been very comforting and supportive having our little chats, so glad I found you (and others) on this forum :-)

You should def be getting your letter in next day or two - fingers crossed it has same 'all clear' result.

With regard my other problem, the GP agreed to my request for general blood tests (full blood count, liver function, thyroid etc) which I had yesterday.  Sure he only agreed to that to placate me.  So, I'll see what comes back from those - and if still feeling no better after those results, I'll request  a face-to-face with GP for an examination, and then depending on that, see about possibility of having an abdominal ultrasound to put my mind at ease, and see what he says.  I really hate having to see doctors, as in the past they've made me feel like I'm being psychosomatic and worrying about things unnecessarily. However, about 5 years ago when I was having upper abdominal pains and radiating pain in back of shoulder, I suspected I might have gallstones, and lo and behold (when I finally got a scan) they found gallstones and subsequently removed my gallbladder! - so I don't have a history of being a time waster, which is why I feel so upset that he's not taking me seriously on this occasion.   Bloody doctors... we have a couple of good ones, but most at my surgery make me wonder why they chose that profession at all !!

Anyway... rant over lol... hope to hear back from you soon with news of your results.  Bye for now xx

  • Hi first to say I had no real side effect from 1st AZ dose but woke up after 2nd dose with awful lumbar pain and it didn't go quickly, reading up on it it's not a side effect but odd side effects can be some inflammatory response.   How many people are having PMBs due to vaccine is hard to say  but regardless of whether it's the vaccine or not you are still entitled to be treated as a PMB.  I went through it a couple of years ago and slowly discovered the process.  I was referred by a nurse consultant,  some of the senior nurses in a practice  are much easier to talk to first and get an emergency appointment with if there are no doctors available.  I didn't get my first appointment for a while  due to a bit of panic and denial so they should not be discouraging people!

  • Hi, I haven't bled for over 10 years and are now having period pains and spotting. I am so worried and doctor has referred me to have this looked into. Did you get the stomach pain too? I am so worried. Thanks

  • Hello, this has just recently happened to me. I had a bleed after 4 years. Sounds similar in that I had period pains spotting then a full period.

I was fast tracked had an ultra sound then had to have a womb biopsy as my womb was thicker than it should be.

    try not to worry.

Had my results yesterday all clear.

  • Thank you this has really helped x

  • Hi Flo,
Any news yet on your biopsy results?  I've been looking out for a post from you but can't see anything.

    Hope you're ok... Murf xxx

  • Hi Murf,

Didn't post as was still waiting on results. I phoned this morning to see what I could find out as almost 3 weeks since biopsy. Consultant phoned me back and said that results were inconclusive. She said I had 3 choices. 1. Wait and see if I had any more bleeding. 2. Hysteroscopy but with local anaesthetic for the biopsy this time 3. Procedure no 2 under general anaesthetic.

1 just isn't an option. I am barely functioning at the moment. I need to draw a line under this.

Chose 2. She said there would be a 2-4 week wait on appointment.

I then sat the rest of the afternoon thinking that I am going to worry my full summer holidays! Waiting on the new appointment then waiting on results. I phoned back in tears as this whole episode is getting on top of me. Secretary was great and, fingers crossed, I'm being seen this Friday and should get a call tomorrow to confirm.

How are you? How's your stomach been?

    Xxx

  • Hi flo,

great to hear from you, been wondering how you are.  Sorry to hear all this, how awful for you!, no wonder you're worrying and it's getting on top of you.  Glad you're being seen more quickly then hopefully results can be clarified before summer hols.

My stomach problems been getting me down too .  I had another telephone consult with GP (different one!) and she's wondering if I've got something called diverticulitis?? Have sent in poo sample to test for presence of any blood (awaiting those results now) and then she's referring me for a colonoscopy (another 'not nice' procedure ) - so awaiting date for that at moment.

Hope you do get appointment on Friday - will be thinking of you.

    Take care.  Love Murf xxx
