Post menopausal bleeding

hi I am 51 . No period in 3 years then stared to bleed heavily . Doctor admitted me for scan . Scan showed 6mm womb lining . Ovaries fine cervix fine have been referred for hysterectomy and biopsy . I am so worried .bleeding stopped after about 4 to 5 days . Has anyone been through this I am so worried at the moment thanks

  • That's ok.  They fast track everyone in the gynae world.  I rang my GP Monday,. Hospital phoned with appt for Thursday, all the same week.  It's mind blowing but Dr Google doesn't always help.  They can remove those cysts and fibroids and sort out the thickening.  Keep in touch so you don't go completely insane lol

  • Can't thank you enough for this post I'm going on the 22nd Feb and my head has been racing with worry but knowing what to expect has calmed me. I'm bad at my 7 times table so I'm definitely going to use that tip lol.
hope this year is going well for you.

    thanks again

  • I'm going through the same! Started bleeding 14th last Sunday, still cramping bad and bleeding 6 days on blood tests booked for the 22nd and scan on he 3rd March. I havnt had a period for 1.5 years. Had prolapse repair one year ago and had all the biopsies and tests to make sure my womb was healthy to have the op. They did say I had some thickening when I had my hysteroscopy that's why they took a biopsy and said it was fine then. Was feeling so positive getting through my op recovery and back to normal to now have this and I'm worried sick. Having to go through all those investigations again is so disheartening but grateful despite the current things going on they are being quick getting seen.

  • Hi, am so glad I have found all of your posts. I'm 54 and have been bleeding for 6 weeks after being bleed free for about 5 years. I've been on HRT for a year and hoping it's just that. Have my first appointment tomorrow and I'm really scared, Reading all of your posts has helped

  • Hi there, I'm 59 and started to bleed last July, after about 5 years free. Bit of a shock. My GP was superb.  Gut an appt at hospital within three days for a camera and hysteroscopy to have a look.  I have endometrial hyperplasia.  Have just had my six month follow up and there's no malignancy.  One more check in six months and if that's ok, I'm discharged.  They put me on tablets, provera.  Deary me. Bled heavily for two months.  Am now on Mirena coil so hopefully will be better.  It is scary but at least you cc an be checked and they can help you.

  • Hi

    I'm in the exact position.

    Am going for hyscospy tomorrow

  • It's a painful procedure.  Take pain relief before hand although it didn't work for me.  Pain goes as soon as procedure us over but you will bleed a bit. Good luck and ask loads of questions.

  • Hi. How did your appointment go? I have so far had my bloods taken and have a scan next Wednesday the 3rd. My bleeding stopped after 11 days hoping it as just some freak period due to a hormone surge or something ! Im not in any HRT or anything so wishful thinking!!

  • So I had an internal scan, it showed my womb lining was a centimetre thicker than it should be, told to stop HRT and I've  to go for biopsies and scrape under general anaesthetic in the next few weeks. I hope all goes well on Wednesday for you, its such a worrying time but hopefully you will be reassured come Wednesday
